As much as we hate to think about it, there is always the possibility of your german shepherd getting lost. Even with fenced property, obedience training, and owner monitoring, it is possible for your shepherd to get separated from you. Micro chipping is a simple and effective way to ensure a lost dog is returned quickly.
Microchip Technology
A microchip is a small electronic device the size of a rice grain. Implanted just under a dog’s skin, typically between the shoulder blades, it uses RFID technology to store a unique identification number. Unlike a collar or tag, this secure device won’t fall off, can’t break, or be removed. A microchip can be scanned by an animal control officer, vet, rescue clinic, or any other place equipped with a scanner. There is no battery needed and no moving parts.
Microchip Registration
In order for a microchip to be useful, it has to be activated and registered. Registration places all of your key personal contact details into a national pet recovery database. This service allows a lost or missing dog to be matched with and returned to his genuine owner.
