These ranged from inexpensive off brands to premium pet food. The cheap brands reduced coat vibrancy, caused flaky skin, and resulted in bad odor. More expensive dog food did not necessarily prove beneficial either. Our dogs still retained an uninviting appearance, dull coats, and poor appetites.

You can also choose to make your own dog food based on the B.A.R.F. formula, which requires some extra work, but the results are worth it if you have the time and money to maintain this diet for your golden.
The Honest Kitchen is one of the few brands that you can count on for the highest quality human grade organic dog food with good grain or grain free varieties. While they have kibble, we are more interested in the low heat dehydrated dog food that is a better option than straight kibble. Like Life’s Abundance, they offer many natural options including dog food, treats, snacks, and supplements.
